Vacations are all fun until realize your skin has turned two or more shades darker due to sun tan. Sooner or later a sun tan will fade out, but if you’re in a hurry, give these home remedies a try. Here’s a quick look at how to remove sun tan in natural ways.
1. Tomato Juice & Yogurt
Tomato Juice is rich in antioxidants that help in brightening skin while yoghurt contains lactic acid which moisturizes and soothes the skin. Take one tablespoon each of tomato juice and yoghurt and mix them well. Use this paste to remove your sun tan, and wash off after 20 minutes with cold water.
2. Lemon Juice & Honey
The bleaching properties of lemon juice help in removing sun tan quickly. Honey on the other hand keeps skin smooth and soft. Take one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and add some honey to it. Apply it to your skin and let it stay for 30 minutes. Wash off.
3. Turmeric & Bengal Gram Flour face pack
This face pack will help you to gently exfoliate the dead cells from your skin and remove suntan. Add a tablespoon of Bengal gram powder to a teaspoon of turmeric. Add some rose water or milk to make a thick paste. Apply this pack on the tanned skin, and let it dry. Gently scrub it away with lukewarm water.
4. Cucumber, Lemon juice, & Rose water
Cucumber is highly effective for tanned and sunburnt skin and in addition it also has a cooling effect on skin. Crush and squeeze cucumber to get the juice out. Mix one tablespoon of Cucumber juice, Lemon juice, & Rose water. Using a cotton ball, apply the juice on the tanned areas keeping it for 10-15 minutes until dry. Wash it off with cold water. Rose water and cucumber soothe skin inflammation, while the lemon juice will reduce the skin tan.
5. Potato & Lemon Juice
Potato juice is often used to lighten dark circles around the eyes, while lemon juice helps in removing pigmentation and sunburns naturally. The potato juice is also known for being a naturally soothing and a potent bleaching agent. To treat suntan, mix one tablespoon each of raw potato juice and lemon juice. Apply this mixture on your sunburnt skin keeping it for 20-30 minutes. Wash it off once it dries.
6. Papaya and Honey
Papaya contains papain enzyme that have skin bleaching and exfoliating properties while honey helps to keep the skin supple. Mash 4-5 cubes of ripe papaya together with one tablespoon of honey. Apply this paste all over the tanned skin and let it dry for 20-30 minutes. Wash off with cold water.
7. Red Lentil (Masoor Dal), Tomato and Aloe Vera pack
Red Lentil is a highly effective remedy in treating sun tan. Tomato Juice helps in brightening skin while Aloe Vera soothes and moisturizes the skin. All these three uncommon ingredients are a true blessing for your skin. For the pack, soak 2 tablespoon of masoor dal in water for a few hours until the dal gets soft. Drain the water and place it in a blender. To the dal, add two tablespoon each of tomato juice and aloe vera. Apply this pack on your suntanned skin and let it stay for 30 minutes. Wash it off with cold water using a massage action.
8. Oatmeal and buttermilk for tan cleaner
Oatmeal helps in exfoliating the skin while the lactic acid in buttermilk softens the skin and improves the skin tone. Soak 2 teaspoons of oats or oatmeal in water for few minutes. Add 2-3 teaspoon of buttermilk to it and mix well. Massage in a circular motion and let it stay for 20 minutes. Wash it off to reveal fresh looking skin.
9. Strawberries & Milk Cream
Strawberries are rich in Vitamin C and AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids) have natural skin brightening properties. On the other hand the milk cream will serve as a natural skin moisturizer. Mash few ripe strawberries and add 2 teaspoon of fresh cream to it. Mix well to form a lump-free paste. Apply this paste on the tanned skin and let it stay for 15-20 minutes. Wash it off with cold water.
10. Pineapple pulp & honey
Pineapple contains an enzyme called Bromelain which reduces inflammation and fights free radicals in the skin. Also, it contains vitamin A, C and antioxidants which undo the sun damage making the skin even toned and bright. On the other hand honey keeps your skin smooth and soft. Blend some freshly chopped ripe pineapple in a blender and add 1 teaspoon of honey to it. Apply this pack on the tanned areas of your skin, keep it for 20 minutes before rinsing it off. Every two days you can repeat this procedure to remove your sun tan.
